Rehearsal spaces for symphony orchestras—Data collection

Introduction

We request data that could help us in testing suggested recommendations, e.g. recommended combinations of Volume and Reverb Times in rehearsal rooms for un-reinforced music.

The diagram below is an example from NS8178, being the work draft for a new ISO-standard for rehearsal rooms.

Do you have any such data and would you be willing to share it?

If so, do the following:

· Copy the table below

· Paste it into a new email

· Fill in data in the empty cells

· Send the email to msk@brekkestrand.no

If you prefer, you can paste the table into a blank excel sheet, fill in data and send it to the email address above.

All rows received will be compiled in a single table below.

In rooms with variable acoustics it is especially valuable to know the RT-range and which RT they prefer. Please use comment column.

The more data, the better. The table may of course be extended with extra rows on demand.

If a room has been used and evaluated in different versions, i.e. with different combinations of RT, N, or even V, please use one row for each version.

As much as possible of the collected information will be included in the base for a paper to ISRA 2019. Each row, i.e. each pair of RT-V will represent one point plotted in a T-V diagram like the one below.

If you think of someone else who should receive this invitation, please return name and email address.

Thank you for your kind cooperation.

* symphony orchestra, here an orchestra consisting of at least strings, woodwind, brass and percussion groups, playing classical music, opera- and ballet-orchestras included.

** If the ID cannot be published please notify in Comment. If you must keep ID strictly anonymous, you could write YourSurname-#1, YourSurname-#2, etc. sufficient to make data traceable for peers in scientific manner.

*** Bass Ratio is (RT125+RT250)/(RT500+RT1000)
